Our Governors
All schools in England have a governing body who support with many of the strategic decisions of the school. The key role of the governing body is to act as a ‘critical friend’ to the school: to offer support, to challenge and to ask questions in their role as representing the school community. They work in partnership with the headteacher, staff and the local authority.
Governors are often involved in recruitment of staff, major changes to the curriculum, premise decisions and finance. Whilst the headteacher is, of course, responsible for the day to day running of the school, the governors ensure the school provides the highest educational standards so that all children have the chance to realise their full potential.
The Governing body is split into two committees: Quality & Standards and Resource Management. Each committee meets termly and a full governing body meeting is held termly also.
Governor attendance at meetings from the last academic year can be seen at the bottom of this page, as can the roles held by current members.
The governing body now comprises:
- 1 Headteacher governor
- 1 Staff governor
- 5 Parent governors
- 1 Local Authority governor
- 6 Co-opted governors
The chair of governors is Colin Marscheider, who can be contacted via the school office.
