School Uniform

All children are expected to wear the uniform at school. We believe this gives children a sense of shared identify and belonging to the school community. Parents/carers are responsible for ensuring that their child is dressed appropriately for school and that all items of clothing are clearly named.

At Grange Farm we value the importance of children being active and engaging in high quality play. As part of our OPAL project, children are encouraged to run, build, climb and jump as well as get creative in our mud kitchen and sand pit. Research shows that physical activity is directly linked to better learning, focus, and overall wellbeing. But many school uniforms are not designed with movement in mind, making it difficult for children to fully engage in play and physical activities. For this reason we have carefully considered how to make our uniform smart, affordable and not restrictive.

In May 2026, we consulted with pupils, parents, staff and governors over changing towards a new 'Always Active Uniform'. The results supported a change and from September 2026 our uniform will be as follows:

  • Royal blue jumper or fleece
  • Black tracksuit bottoms/leggings
  • Sky blue polo shirt
  • Black trainers
  • Optional skort or sports skirt for girls
  • Black shorts for Summer

Please note that there should be no visible logos on items apart from the school logo should you wish to have this. Jumpers, cardigans and fleeces embroidered with the school name can be purchased from Andy Blair Schoolwear on Moseley Avenue in Coundon but these are not essential – non-embroidered items are absolutely fine.

PE Kit

The main difference is that we will no longer have a separate PE kit and children will not be getting changed for after school clubs. We have chosen this uniform as children will be able to do PE lessons and participate fully in our OPAL play provision in their uniform without worrying about restrictive clothing.

Children in Reception to Year 4 will need a blue school bookbag which can be purchased from the school office. Children in Year 5 & 6 may bring a small rucksack which must fit in their locker.

Wet weather

Our children go outside to play even in wet weather. For this reason ALL children need to have a pair of wellies in school at all times. These are stored in the class welly-sheds which are labelled around the school site. We also recommend children have either a rain suit or water proof coat with a hood in school every day. It is best if coats are dark coloured and easily washable.
