Volunteering & Training opportunities
Volunteering
We recognise that volunteers at Grange Farm School bring with them a range of skills and experience that can enhance the learning opportunities of our pupils and we welcome and encourage volunteers from the local community.
If you are interested in Volunteering please read through our ‘Volunteer Protocol’ and fill in the application form. This can be done electronically, or paper copies are available from the school office.
If what you can offer matches what the children need, we will be in touch to organise a meeting to discuss our Safeguarding Protocols and answer any questions you may have. An enhanced DBS check must be completed for all volunteer placements.
If you wish to complete a volunteering placement as part of a training qualification such as a Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification then a small charge applies to complete the DBS check.
Work Experience Placements
We get lots of requests from students (both past Grange Farm and others) to complete their work experience placements with us. We are always happy to support students who wish to explore a career working with other children as we know first hand how vital this work is. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate everyone who requests a placement as these are often all within the same time period and we are limited to how many placement students we can accommodate at once.
All placement students are required to complete a Volunteer Application form, detailing the reasons why they want to complete the placement with us and also provide a reference email address which is usually a tutor or head of year. Once these have been received a decision can be made about whether a placement can be offered.
We expect that contact is made and the application completed by the student themselves as developing independence is a key part of the work experience programme.
Teacher Training
We know first hand that teaching is an incredibly rewarding career and always encourage enquiries from individuals who are interested in getting into teaching.
At Grange Farm we work closely with local universities to support trainee teachers on their Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) placements or Degree level placements.
If you are interested in completing a placement with us, please contact the school office who will put you in touch with our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Noone, who organises the placements.
Many of our Grange Farm staff were previous student placements and some even ex Grange Farm students themselves also.
