Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is a government initiative that targets extra money at pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Research shows that these children typically underachieve compared to their non-disadvantaged peers and the premium is allocated to schools in order to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and support these pupils in reaching their full potential.

At Grange Farm we have a very low allocation of pupil premium funding, compared to other similar schools but often this is because parents are unaware that their child may be eligible for this additional funding. If you think you may be eligible please check this link:

How the funding is spent is decided on by the school, however they are accountable for ensuring that this funding is used to narrow the gap between those children eligible for pupil premium funding and their peers.

As a school, we recognise that not all pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding will have lower attainment than their peers. In such cases, the grant will be used to help improve pupils’ progress and attainment so that they can reach their full potential.

Funding may be used to:

  • Provide additional intervention in core subjects
  • Provide learning mentor support for children’s social and emotional wellbeing
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities, trips and visitors to ensure all children have access to the same opportunities

High-quality teaching is key to ensuring that all children, including those who are eligible for Pupil Premium, meet their potential. This is proven to have the greatest impact on closing the disadvantage attainment gap and at the same time will benefit the non-disadvantaged pupils in our school. The progress of children eligible for Pupil Premium funding is carefully tracked every term. We monitor every child in the school through regular termly pupil progress meetings, in which the teacher, Headteacher and Deputy meet to discuss progress and any intervention/support needed to make further progress.

Key Documentation:

The spending of Pupil Premium funding is reviewed annually and is detailed in the school’s Pupil Premium Strategy.
