Attendance

At Grange Farm school we want to ensure that our children are able to take the fullest possible advantages of all that we have to offer. We want every child to attend school every day that they can and hold the view that regular attendance is important to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for all of our children.

This attendance policy sets out what is expected so that this may be achieved.

Our aims are to raise attendance and improve punctuality by:

  • Ensuring that all children have full and equal access to the best education that we can offer in order to increase learning.
  • Promoting a positive and welcoming atmosphere in which children feel safe, secure and valued.
  • Promoting opportunities to celebrate and reward children’s successes and achievements.
  • Raising awareness of the importance of good attendance.
  • Ensuring that attendance is monitored effectively and reasons for absences are recorded promptly and consistently.
  • Making parents/carers aware of their legal responsibilities.

We have a dedicated attendance lead, Mrs Heath, who works with our Local Authority Attendance officer to monitor attendance in school and support families where attendance concerns have been raised. We recognise that at times, children and/or parents may need support in order to maintain good attendance and are keen to work with families to provide any support you may need.

We monitor each child’s attendance regularly and will discuss any concerns with you in order to keep you up to date with your child’s attendance. Parents are requested to call the school office or email absence@grangefarm.coventry.sch.uk by 9:00am if their child is not in school, providing an explanation of why this is the case. If your child is absence from school without a clear explanation, a home visit may be conducted as part of our safeguarding procedures.

Term time holidays are not permitted as per Local Authority guidelines. Any absence request, for holidays or other circumstances, must be notified to school through a ‘Leave of Absence Request’ as detailed in the Attendance Policy.
